INTRODUCTION TO AUGUST DEVOTIONS
JOB’S STANDARDS & OUR SONS
“There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was blameless and upright, and one who feared God and shunned evil. And seven sons and three daughters were born to him.” Job 1:1
We Have Sons Too In April, I focused on the women of the Bible and the lessons their faith stories could help us teach our daughters and other young girls in the faith. It occurred to me we could use some help from the men of the Bible in raising our sons and other young boys in the faith. I became excited about getting to know our Biblical brothers in CHRIST through their faith stories.
Setting the standard The standards Job had set for himself seem appropriate standards for us to include in raising our young boys in CHRIST. Those standards would also help us to explore the faith stories of other brothers in CHRIST we find in the Bible and the lessons they have to teach our young boys.
These should work When I reread Chapter 31, I found these standards within the Scriptures: *Love *Faith *Commitment *Trust *Purity *Justice *Generosity *Compassion *Forgiveness *Obedience *Integrity *Perseverance *Courage *Wisdom *Respect *Self-Control *Peace *Responsibility * Accountability *Loyalty *Leadership. What a great list of attributes to instill in our young boys. What a challenging job! I am glad we can find help from our Biblical brothers in CHRIST and their faith stories.
I pray that together we can explore faith stories of our Biblical brothers in CHRIST that help us raise our young boys so they can grow up with a solid foundation in GOD and applying their faith in their everyday lives.
