December is a time of preparing our hearts to celebrate the coming of the Christ Child. Yet the retail stores have been reminding us as early as September that it is a time to buy gifts, decorate, entertain, and flash credit cards.
For those of us who are so organized that all the gifts have been purchased and wrapped, this first week of devotions might have to be applied next year. But for the majority of us, these devotions and the ones for each day leading up to Christmas might be just what we need to give more while spending less. It might be the perfect opportunity to look at Christmas in a whole new and wonderful way. If you like the way this approach makes you feel, why not share it with family and friends?
The terrorists acts of September 11th caused us to think about “911” as more than a call for help. “911” has come to symbolize a loss of lives, security, and a way of life. The month of December comes at just the right time to help us refocus on the ONE who can bring comfort, peace and yes, even joy. I invite you to experience all the love that GOD’S gift brings. And I pray that these faith devotions help you keep CHRIST in CHRISTmas bringing you closer than ever to the One that created us and sustains us. “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” John 8:12
