Special People Remind Me of GOD’S SON Shine
“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy, meditate on these things.” Philippians 4:8
Think happy thoughts… As a melodramatic child, I would often sigh and tell my mother I was feeling sad and sorrowful. She encouraged me to “think happy thoughts.” My mother’s response was perfect for her young “drama queen” daughter. And her response was right in later years as she acknowledged the joy, sadness, pain, depression, excitement, grief that I experienced as a wife and mother. She listened, she acknowledged, she encouraged, she prayed and I made it through. As I impatiently waited for spring to arrive, I decided I would think happy thoughts.
Creating smiles makes the SON shine One day while I reminisced about special people in my life, I decided to send them a devotion that remembered them in the form of a “love” letter from me. My mother was overjoyed with hers’ and thought others would enjoy theirs just as much. I found the perfect paper at my favorite stationery store and copied the devotion on it. What a hit! The recipients called me; we reminisced and we laughed. The warm feeling lasted long after I hung up the phone. I felt GOD’S SON shining on me.
SON shine letters…What better way to brush away winter doldrums as we wait for Spring than to write letters to friends and family members about a special memory. Feel the SON shine through you, warming your heart and the heart of those blessed enough to receive your SON shine letter. What a great way to let GOD’S love shine through to others.
“Now may our God and Father Himself, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way to you. And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love to one another and to all, just as we do to you, so that He may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints.”
