INTRODUCTION TO NOVEMBER DEVOTIONS
GREAT RECIPES FOR GIVING THANKS
Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed are those who trust in Him. Psalm 34: 8-
Old traditions and new experiences We always had Thanksgiving dinner at Uncle Art and Aunt Mayme’s house where all the traditional dishes were served. When I married Milton, I added Aunt Zelma’s homemade rolls to the traditional dishes and oh, what a hit. Then our daughter Shelly, added a dressing recipe she concocted herself. “Taste this and see what you think, Mom,” Shelly said as she lifted a spoonful of her dressing to my mouth. I could hardly finish swallowing before I was praising Shelly for her wonderful concoction that has now been added to our list of “must have” traditional Thanksgiving dishes.
Thanksgiving is a time for remembering and sharing blessings. As I prayed about how to make this month’s devotions really special, I thought, “This might be the perfect time to share Thanksgiving favorites: recipes of favorite Thanksgiving dinner dishes, traditions, songs, blessings and prayers. I pray that this will be a time when you remember and share faith stories of your own that help strengthen the relationship you and your family have with CHRIST and with each other. And that in the midst of the challenges that face our world, our nation and us individually, our praise and adoration to YOU, oh CHRIST will make this year the best Thanksgiving ever! Taste and see that the LORD is good! Who knows? You may enjoy yourselves so much that you decide to make every day a day of thanksgiving.
