INTRODUCTION TO OCTOBER DEVOTIONS
BACK TO THE BASICS….
HIS Parables - Our Practical Application
Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand. Matthew 13:13
The ultimate teacher JESUS taught in parables that were designed to present short stories about everyday life that used the strategy of compare and contrast . JESUS wanted to motivate people to listen and think, then decide what implications the message had for them and lastly, act on that message. In other words, incorporate that message into their everyday lives.
Keeping it surprisingly simple (KISS) The world, now run by high-tech gizmos that easily defy understanding by many of us, can cause us to feel that everything in our lives has to be complicated. “ Not so,” JESUS might say. If we want to go back to the basics of the kingdom of GOD, all we have to do is review JESUS’ teachings. HIS use of parables provides us with surprisingly simple instructions on topics that include: Service and Obedience, Prayer, Neighbors, Humility, Wealth, God’s Love, Thankfulness, CHRIST’S Return, and GOD’S Values.
Parables for you and for me We read a lot about the value in simplifying one’s life. Perhaps you are feeling a need to simplify your life. If so reading this month’s daily devotions about JESUS’ Parables on the Kingdom of GOD and my faith stories might inspire you to use HIS teachings in new ways that simplify and enhance the quality of your spiritual life.
I pray that these faith inspired and parable-based lessons on GOD’S kingdom will provide guidance and support for you in your faith journey.
Your sister in CHRIST, Wanda Scott Bledsoe
